New York Power Authority approves major commercial project to expand EV charging infrastructure at 37 key locations throughout New York State
Los Angeles – EV Connect, the full-service one-stop shop for commercial and governmental electric vehicle (EV) charging station solutions, announced they have been awarded a four-year, $1,568,108 value contract from the New York Power Authority (NYPA) for the deployment and management of more than 100 EV charging stations in 37 locations throughout New York State.
These EV charging stations will operate on EV Connect’s open charging network and provide NYPA and its customers with real-time charge station monitoring, electricity usage, payment processing, reporting, demand response capabilities, and more. EV Connect’s management services will also eliminate NYPA’s need for hands-on charging station operations and driver support functions.
The new EV charging stations are part of the Charge New York Initiative, introduced in 2013. New York aims to establish a statewide network of up to 3,000 EV charging stations within the next several years.
“We are proud of the fact that NYPA selected EV Connect after a competitive RFP submission and thorough review process,” said Jordan Ramer, EV Connect’s CEO. “Since our EV charging station network utilizes open charge station management software instead of a proprietary and locked network, NYPA’s charging stations won’t run the risk of becoming unsupported over time. NYPA has ensured that New York taxpayers are getting the best investment possible for their EV charging station infrastructure.”
The charging station locations include public parking areas, like transportation hubs, and private commercial locations for employers to provide workplace EV charging to their employees. The EV charging stations will be rolled out in three phases, and stations in Phase 1 are already being installed.
