New York, NY – Adding to an exciting program of influencers at the UN’s 2014 Climate Summit that included President Obama, Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Gore and New York’s Mayor de Blasio, all eyes were on BYD Company’s Founder and Chairman Wang Chuanfu as he took to the podium to discuss the BYD Three Green Dreams.

The only New Energy Vehicle manufacturer on the UN’s program, Wang stressed the importance of electrifying our public transportation fleets, reiterating a point that was made earlier in the day that transportation are responsible for nearly a 1/4th of the world’s carbon emissions, and a 1/5th of its fuel consumption.

After delivering his keynote about BYD’s progress and vision, Wang then joined a number of other transportation thought leaders to discuss the UN’s Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI), which will focus on implementing policy and raising funds to electrify 30% of all urban vehicles by 2030. “To help achieve this goal BYD will assume the responsibility of solving the dilemma we currently face with lack of global production capabilities in industrial battery production. We will scale this business as well as continue to drive research and development of battery science, making pure electric vehicles more competitive.” Said Wang. The United Nations will meet again in Paris, France in December of 2015 to look to nail down policies and programs that would see to action on all of the promises and goals set forward by the 120 heads of state and city that attended this week’s summit.
